Search for missing woman in forest enters second day

Volunteers join search for missing mother

Crews continue to search for a woman who has not been seen since vanishing while on a run during hot weather in Victoria.

Samantha Murphy was last seen leaving her property on Eureka Street in Ballarat East to go for a jog in Canadian State Forest about 7am on Sunday.

Her family and police hold concerns for the 51-year-old’s welfare due to the hot weather, with temperatures reaching 36 degrees in the area on the day.

Police said Murphy’s disappearance was out of character.

State Emergency Service crews and police have been searching the state forest behind Buninyong Golf Club since Monday.

The ground search resumed on Tuesday with the search and rescue squad bringing in the dog squad, mounted police and air units.

Forest Fire Management Victoria and Parks Victoria personnel are also involved.

Murphy is Caucasian, about 173 centimetres tall with a slim build and shoulder-length blonde hair.

She was last seen wearing black half-length leggings and a maroon or brown singlet.
