A group of female con artists posing as spiritual healers have scammed two Melbourne women out of jewellery and cash.
The victims told police their valuables were stolen by the group, who investigators believe are targeting older women from Eastern Europe.
The scammers told the victims they could heal them by praying over packages of their cash and jewellery at a particular location.
Victoria Police said the scammers prayed over the packages and then swapped the items over while the victims were unaware.
The first incident occurred in Cheltenham on February 14 and the second incident in St Kilda three days later.
“A third woman told investigators she was approached by a group of women in a similar scenario in South Melbourne on March 11 but on this occasion the offenders left empty-handed,” the Victoria Police spokesperson said.
Police have released images of three women they believe can assist with their enquiries.
Anyone who recognises the women is been asked to come forward.
