Geelong captain Joel Selwood could face further punishment from the AFL club after being caught speeding at 127km/h on Friday.

Selwood, an Australian Grand Prix ambassador, will lose his license for one month after he was booked in a 100km/h zone.

“Joel and the club are disappointed in his actions,” acting Cats chief executive Justin Reeves said in a statement.

“Everyone associated with the club takes road safety very seriously, and knows that speeding is unacceptable and can cause accidents.

“Fortunately these actions did not result in an accident.”

Cats managament will meet with the Traffic Accident Commission this week to discuss any further penalties that they could impose on the star midfielder, who informed the club immediately after being caught.

Earlier this week, the avid F1 fan spoke of his disappointment at missing the Albert Park race on March 26.

The Cats will be in Perth for their round one match against Fremantle.

“I’m going to be out there just as the race starts. I’ll get it taped to watch it on the flight home,” he said.
