Suspected human remains have been found along the shoreline at Geelong in Victoria’s south-west.
The discovery at North Shore on Corio Bay was made by a fisherman about 11:00am.
A police spokeswoman said the fisherman found what appeared to be human remains when the tide was out.
She said a special police unit from Melbourne was heading to the scene.
Police divers could be seen entering the bay.
The State Emergency Service has cordoned off a long stretch of the area while police investigate.
