A woman from Ballarat has produced one of the most bizarre Gumtree ads likely to be posted on the classifieds website.

The unnamed woman wants a human to act like a cat for her.

And she’s even prepared to pay for the service, according to her post.

“I’m looking for somebody to curl up on the end of my bed an purr softly like a sleeping kitten as I sleep. I have had a lot of trouble sleeping and I think it would be comforting falling asleep to the sound of a cat purring and also knowing that someone is there to keep an eye on me as I sleep.

“I’d also appreciate it if you could arrive in a realistic cat costume and enter my house on all fours. I have always found great comfort in the idea of having a pet cat but I just dont have the time to clean up after one and feed one.

“I’d be prepared to pay you up to $60 if you can make a nice and relaxing and consistent purr and maybe $35 to $40 if you ‘lets say’ ain’t the best.”

This ad even generated responses, with people eager to “trial” for the role so they would not have to buy a cat costume only to have no use for it if unsuccessful.

“Although your ad may seen strange to others, I can completely get where you’re coming from,” one respondent said in correspondence seen by The New Daily.

“I would be very interested to have a further conversation with you regarding this job opportunity.

However, it soon emerged the ad was just a joke – albeit one with very pure intentions.

“No this ad is not legit it was just some fun to brighten up ones gloomy days who are job hunting and would come across a bit of a laugh to break it up,” Sophie told The New Daily.

“I did not expect it to go viral either.”

Sophie also made one further shocking revelation: “I’m actually not a cat person sadly”.

She went onto explain: “A rotating roster was preferred so that I could to hear a different purr and type of cats.”

I”‘d love if a ginger cat with big fluffy fur and a nice loud purr that would come and curl up around my feet.

“The best or most important trait of my cat would be having the purfect purr 🙂 (its all in the purr).”
