Police are hunting for a man who molested an 11-year old boy in a Melbourne cinema toilet at the weekend.

The boy and his mother were at Hoyts Greensborough when the incident occurred around 4.30pm on Sunday.

Detective acting senior sergeant Brett Meadows said the boy was approached while at a urinal and molested by a man wearing a black hoodie, while his mother waited outside the bathroom.

Distressed, the boy ran outside to tell his mother, who in turn informed cinema staff.

The offender had his hood tied tightly, obscuring most of his face, according to the boy.

He also had his pants around his ankles when he approached the boy.

The boy told detectives the man appeared to be between 40 and 60 years old based on his legs, and had a foreign accent.

Detective Meadows said while very little of the man’s physical appearance is known, police were hoping anyone who had noticed a suspicious person at the cinema would come forward.

“There were about seven to 10 people in the toilet when the incident occurred”, he said.

“It was still about 40 degrees at the time and the man was wearing a hoodie over his head, which should have made him stand out.”
