A woman in her 20s died at the scene and the other occupants, four men and four women, suffered injuries and were taken to hospital.

The car did not have number plates and charges were yet to be laid, 9news reported.

The alleged driver, thought to be a woman in her 30s, will be interviewed by police.

The death takes Victoria’s road toll to 192, two more than for the same time last year.
