Golden Square pool reopening on track

A Bendigo community group says it remains on track to reopen a public swimming pool in a month’s time.

The Bendigo council was planning to demolish the Golden Square facility, however, the decision was overturned in March and a community group was appointed to manage the pool.

A safety audit was recently completed and sent to Lifesaving Victoria.

The pool committee’s Ken Hamilton says a council inspection is expected to happen in the next couple of weeks.

“We’ve been having working bees every two weeks, probably for the last two months, so we’ve been getting a lot done during those,” he said.

“It’s all getting painted, tomorrow that will all be finished.

“We’re pretty much just doing all of the lose odds and ends over the next three, four weeks.”
