The Victorian ombudsman has been asked to investigate the sacking of the Wangaratta Council in September.
The former Wangaratta mayor, Rozi Parisotto, says she wants the ombudsman to investigate the events leading up to the sacking, as well as the severity of the dismissal.
She says people involved in councils across Victoria are still stunned by the move by the State Government.
“People are just absolutely in shock about what has happened and everyone deserves answers,” he said.
“We just need to be able to get an independent view on the process and actions that has been taken.”
An interim administrator is running the council until a panel of administrators is named in the next few weeks.
That panel will perform as the council until local government elections in 2016.
