Police are hunting for a man who shot a 16-year-old boy at a house at Lockleys in Adelaide’s west on Monday morning.

Students at nearby Lockleys North Primary School were told to stay inside but police said the school was not in lockdown.

Emergency crews were called to the house on Malurus Avenue about 9.30am, where they found the teenager with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Police said a man fired a shot through a window and hit the boy inside the house.

The teenager was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Police said the suspect was wearing a black shirt and black pants, and was last seen running west away from the house.

They believe it was not a random incident.

Elsewhere, a woman’s body was discovered in a car in nearby Kidman Park on Sunday night.

A man was arrested and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he is under police guard in a serious condition.
