An attacker is being hunted after a man was stabbed to death with a knife at a busy shopping centre at Elizabeth in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Emergency services converged on the shopping precinct in Oxenham Drive about 7:00pm on Thursday after receiving reports a man had been stabbed in the chest.

Police said the victim, a 25-year-old Blakeview man, was treated at the scene by ambulance officers before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he died.

Witnesses to the attack said the suspect fled on foot, along with a woman who was pushing a pram with a young child in it.

Police said the man being hunted is of slim build, about 180cm tall, and has short, brown hair and blue eyes.

They believe the victim and attacker were known to each other.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.

In a separate incident at nearby Elizabeth Downs about an hour earlier, a man was stabbed in the abdomen, neck and face.

Police said he was taken to hospital with minor injuries and a 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene of that attack.
