SA independent MP Bob Such battling cancer

Bob Such, one of the two independent MPs in South Australia’s hung parliament, has announced he has a brain tumour.

Dr Such went on sick leave last week and on Saturday announced he would undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy for a brain tumour.

The member for Fisher said he was advised on March 21, just days after the election, that he may have a brain tumour.

“This diagnosis has now been confirmed and he will be undergoing a course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy,” a statement from the MP’s office said.

“Dr Such’s family have requested that their privacy continue to be respected as they deal with this sudden and distressing news.

“Dr Such will keep the Parliament and the Premier informed of his progress.

“He wishes to thank those who have conveyed their good wishes and messages of support.”

Labor was returned for a fourth term when independent MP Geoff Brock announced last Sunday he would support the party to form a minority government.
