Queensland police have shot dead a man who confronted them while armed with a knife at a caravan park north of Brisbane.

Police were called to the Endeavour Caravan Park on Deception Bay Road at 2.30pm on Monday following reports a man was threatening other residents.

When the armed man confronted two police officers, they fired multiple shots that fatally wounded the man, Inspector Craig White told reporters.

He said the family of the deceased man were yet to be contacted and investigations by the Coroner and Ethical Standards Command were continuing.

Inspector White said the “experienced operational officers” involved were a male senior constable and a female constable.

Inspector White said a male officer received a minor cut during the confrontation, but it would not require treatment in hospital.

“It’s a terrible tragedy for all concerned,” Inspector White said.
