Queensland’s corruption watchdog has been cleared of any wrongdoing over its dealings with Logan City Council.

The Local Government Association of Queensland lodged a complaint with the state government’s Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee in February.

It was reported at the time it related to accusations Crime and Corruption Commission chairman Alan MacSporran interfered with the council before a vote to sack chief executive Sharon Kelsey.

The committee, which is chaired by former LNP leader Tim Nicholls, said in a statement on Thursday it was satisfied the CCC “acted appropriately” in its dealings with the local council body.

“The committee also determined to take no further action in relation to the complaint,” it said.

The committee said it had requested and considered a report from the CCC about the matter before it made its decision.

It also highlighted the issue was reported in the media in February without its authorisation.

“Whilst the committee has finalised its consideration of this matter, the committee has not authorised the release of its proceedings,” it said.

They will remain confidential.
