A man has been charged with attempted murder over an alleged targeted shooting at a Brisbane unit complex.

Police said the victim, a 38-year-old man from Sunnybank Hills, who was shot in the head and stomach, was in a stable condition from his gunshot wounds, but his life remains in danger following the shooting in Holland Park West at about 9.50pm on Saturday.

He was located in a vehicle parked in the street and is currently receiving treatment.

It is alleged the 32-year-old accused opened fire and then fled the unit complex. He was arrested about 10km away, at Hawthorne, at about 2pm on Sunday.

The accused has been charged with attempted murder and will appear in court on Monday over acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, wilful damage, unlawful possession of a weapon, and drug possession.

He has been held in custody overnight.

The incident is being treated as “targeted” as it is believed the pair knew each other.

A 32-year-old Carina man was arrested at an address in Hawthorne about 2pm on Sunday and is being interviewed by detectives.

Anyone who may have any information that could assist with investigations has been urged to contact police on 1800 333 000 or 131 444. Information can also be reported anonymously online.
