A man who fell from a golf buggy and hit his head on a bitumen road earlier this week has died in a Gold Coast hospital.

The 21-year-old was with two other people in the golf cart on Monday when the accident occurred.

They were driving inside a gated community on Hope Island.

The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital but died yesterday.

The two other male passengers were not hurt.

The forensic crash unit is examining how the accident occurred.

“There’s no suggestion they were going at any great speed,” a police spokesman said.

“It looks like the guy might have been turning his head to speak to someone when he lost his balance and fell.”

Officers are still trying to talk to people who witnessed the accident.

The police spokesman said the man’s death was not being added to the road toll because the accident did not occur on a public road.
