Queensland police have upgraded the charges against a man accused of fatally king hitting his father.
Morgan Isles-English, 25, was charged with grievous bodily harm after he allegedly punched his father Mark, 53, in Brisbane on Monday afternoon.
But the man’s father subsequently died in hospital on Tuesday.
Early on Wednesday police upgraded Isles-English’s charge to unlawful striking causing death and appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The Courier Mail reported that Isles-English sobbed in court when he appeared in court and paced paced back and forth in the dock, crying out to a woman in the public gallery that “I love you, Mum” and asking whether “he was awake”.
Isles-English’s lawyer Brendan Beavon did not make an application for bail and requested the matter be adjourned to next month.
