“Police arrived and found that it was a disturbance between two school groups, at this stage I’m unable to say who and how many,” Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Miller told 9news.com.au.

“There were spot brawls in the carpark of the school.

“The fight was still going as police arrived but police were able to quell it quite fast.

“Teachers were attempting to intervene, as teachers do, and unfortunately they’ve worn some wayward blows from the combatants.”

He said when police arrived, “quite a number absconded” the scene.

In a statement, police said there were no serious injuries and confirmed the two arrests.

The 16-year-old boy was later released with a caution.

A 29-year-old man from Coomera has been charged with one count each of going armed so as to cause fear, possession of a knife in a public place and driving whilst under the influence.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on November 3.
