Girl, 6, found safe and well

A six-year-old girl has been found safe and well after a police alert was issued saying she may have been abducted from outside a Brisbane school.

Earlier, police expressed concerns she had been taken from Ascot State School, on the corner of Anthony and Massey streets, about 1:30pm and may be at risk.

They believed a family member was involved.

Tens of thousands of people shared a bright yellow child abduction alert image of the missing girl since it was posted on the Queensland Police Service Facebook page late on Monday afternoon.

Police encouraged people to share the image, and also changed the official images on its Twitter and Facebook accounts in an effort to circulate the girl’s picture.

Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.

For privacy reasons, no further information is available at this time, police say.
