Three prisoners are on the run in far north Queensland after escaping from a low security facility.

Nawie Asera, 19, Beau-Daniel King, also 19, and Elijah Tapim, 20, have fled from a low-security area at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre in Mareeba on the Atherton Tableland, prison authorities said on Sunday morning.

Asera was serving three years and nine months for robbery with violence, King was on a sentence of six months for break and enter, while Tapim was in prison for four years for assault.
