Two teens found over bat lyssavirus fears

Queensland authorities have located two teenagers who handled a bat infected with the deadly lyssavirus.

The 14-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl dropped a sick bat into a police beat at Kippa-Ring, north of Brisbane, on Tuesday morning.

Queensland Health says the pair were found earlier last night in good health and do not require medical treatment.

A police officer who was scratched by the bat did require treatment.
