Police officers charged with rape in Queensland

Two police officers in central Queensland have been charged with raping a woman while on duty.

The state’s police media unit says the victim was allegedly assaulted in Mackay on Sunday morning, and the incident was reported on Monday afternoon.

The two constables, aged 28 and 29, have been charged following an Ethical Standards Command investigation.

They face five counts of rape and one count each of assault and deprivation of liberty.

Both officers have been suspended from duty and will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Friday.
