A man has been charged with threatening to kill Queensland Premier Campbell Newman, his wife and his daughters on social media.

Police say the man allegedly made the death threats on Mr Newman’s Facebook page last Wednesday.

Officers searched a home in Caboolture, north of Brisbane, on Friday.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

He’s due to face Caboolture Magistrates Court on February 6.

Comment has been sought from the Queensland premier’s office.
