Qld pair run over by lifeguard’s 4WD

A man and a woman have been run over by a lifeguard vehicle on a Gold Coast beach.

Police say the pair, aged in their 20s, were lying on a beach in Surfers Paradise about 5pm (AEST) on Monday when a slow-moving vehicle ran them over.

Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Gold Coast Hospital for treatment.

Chief lifeguard Warren Young told The Courier Mail a lifeguard four-wheel drive was doing “a slow curve” when it hit them.

Mr Young said the lifeguard driving the vehicle was shaken and distressed.
