$50K barra proves elusive

A tagged barramundi worth $50,000 has once again eluded anglers at this year’s fishing classic in Mount Isa in north-west Queensland.

More than 400 people dangled a line over the weekend, catching more than 330 fish.

Organiser Jessica Bandiera says anglers now have 12 months to catch the tagged barramundi to claim a $1,000 prize.

“No-one caught the $50,000, so it’s still out there and there is a $1,000 bounty on its head,” she said.

“They contact the Mount Isa Water Board or they can contact the club ourselves and all they need to do is let us know what the tag number is, have a photo of it, and we can see if it is or isn’t the tagged barra.”
