Search continues in central Qld for missing house mates

Police are continuing to search a central Queensland property for any sign of two missing Rockhampton house mates.

Robert Martinez, 26, and Chantelle Barnett, 27, have not been seen for more than six months and police have been treating the case as a possible murder.

Police say the house mates were last seen at nearby Yeppoon in early March.

Yesterday, police and State Emergency Service (SES) crews began combing a Port Curtis property after receiving a tip-off from the public.

A dog trained in detecting human remains was also brought in.

Detective Acting Superintendent Darren Shadlow says they will search the area until they are satisfied.

“It’s quite an area – the SES will conduct a coordinated and systematic search of this area here, which might take some time,” he said.

“At this stage we haven’t found anything, but the search will continue until we’re satisfied that this area has been cleared.”
