Qld police target bushland in new search for missing Rockhampton house mates

Police investigating the disappearance of two house mates in central Queensland have started a new search in bushland near Rockhampton.

Robert Martinez, 26, and Chantelle Barnett, 27, have not been seen for more than six months and police have been treating the case as a possible murder.

Police say the housemates were last seen at nearby Yeppoon in early March.

State Emergency Service crews have joined police today in a bushland search at Port Curtis.

A dog trained in detecting human remains has also been brought in.

Police say today’s search is in response to specific information received by investigators.

In September, police said they were investigating a possible link to drugs.

In April, police confirmed a wallet found at Gavial Creek belonged to Mr Martinez.

Mr Martinez’s vandalised car was found in April in the same area, which police believe may have been left there in early March.
