Gold Coast teen Samuel Hitch safe after walking into ABC’s Sydney HQ

A teenager from Queensland’s Gold Coast who has been missing for six days has walked into the ABC’s Ultimo headquarters in Sydney.

The ABC has since handed 16-year-old Samuel Hitch, who has autism, into the care of New South Wales police.

He was reported missing from his Mudgeeraba home last Saturday morning.

Queensland police said earlier today there had been no confirmed sightings of Samuel.

Police had also set up a mannequin at Robina Town Centre today to help jog people’s memories.

Colleen Hope from the Mudgeeraba Special School says she is relieved Samuel has been found.

“I’ve spoken to his mother and I can feel that release of energy,” she said.

“As many people have learnt now from the Gold Coast, I’m not just a principal of this school, I am also a mother of a young lady at this school and I can just feel that outpouring of love knowing that your child will be home safe.”
