Tap water in the Bundaberg region has been ranked among the ‘tastiest’ in Queensland.

Bundaberg’s Lover’s Walk Water Scheme yesterday claimed second place in the Queensland Water Directorate’s Best of the Best Water Taste Test.

Cooktown won the title.

Queensland Water Directorate CEO David Cameron says it is a fun way to recognise the hard work that goes into maintaining a town water supply.

“Delegates just get a chance to do a blind test on each sample, so six samples, swill it around in their mouth, it’s a little bit like wine tasting, there’s some coffee beans to sniff in between tastes and all that sort of stuff,” he said.

“The most interesting thing to me is that it is just such a personal thing, people tend to flash back to their childhood.”
