Police are calling on the public for information after two men were captured on CCTV before another man was shot in a suburban Sydney street.

Officers were called to a home in Blackett in the city’s west in September, where they found a 29-year man with bullet wounds to his body and head.

Detectives believe he was returning home from work about 9pm when targeted in an ambush.

“A number of rounds were fired through the windscreen of a car that impacted with the victim while he was seated in the car,” Suptintendent Steve Egginton said at the time.

“You couldn’t look at it any other way in terms of him coming home and … that ambush-style of attack.

“It appears the offender may have had some knowledge of the movements of the victim prior to that.”

Some of the man’s relatives and children were inside a property he was parked outside of before being shot.

He was not known to police and investigations are focused on the motive for the attack.

The critically wounded man was taken to Westmead Hospital where he underwent several surgeries but has since been released and is continuing to recover.

Eggington said in September police believed there was only one gunman involved, who escaped on foot into a park following the shooting.

However, detectives on Wednesday released CCTV footage of a grey Ford Ranger and two men – dressed in black – who may be able to assist with the investigation.

They have previously called on anyone with CCTV footage or information about movements around Niland Crescent on the evening of Wednesday, September 13 to call Crime Stoppers.
