A man has been charged following a road rage incident in Sydney’s inner-west when another man was mowed down with a ute after being shot at with a nail gun.

On Wednesday, NSW Police were called during the busy afternoon peak hour to Parramatta Road at Burwood.

It’s alleged a Nissan Navara and an Isuzu truck were involved in a minor crash before one of the drivers – a 32-year-old man – got out of his ute and shot an unloaded nail gun at the 55-year-old truck driver.

The younger man returned to the Nissan and drove at the truckie from behind, hitting him with his ute before fleeing, police said.

The older man was treated by paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with non-life-threatening head and hip injuries.

Police later arrested the 32-year-old man at North Strathfield.

He had minor injuries and was taken to Concord Hospital under police guard.

He was later charged at Burwood Police Station with driving furiously in a motor vehicle to do or cause bodily harm.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on October 26.
