A young girl has been approached by a knife-wielding man in the fourth child abduction attempt in Sydney within a week.

The 11-year-old was approached outside a Summer Hill property on Thursday morning, with the man pulling the weapon from his coat.

He then tried to grab her, but the girl ran away and reported the incident at her school, police said.

The offender was described as being of Asian appearance, 30 to 40 years old, with a red mark on the right side of his face.Police are also investigating an incident involving a three-year-old girl at Pioneers Memorial Park in Leichhardt on Tuesday evening.

In another attack, a five-year-old girl was indecently assaulted by a man of Indian appearance in Glebe on Saturday morning.

And last Thursday a mother had the fright of her life when a man attempted to abduct her 15-month-old toddler from the Macquarie Street Mall in Liverpool.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incidents to come forward.
