A man is in a serious condition in hospital after falling from a rock face on Sydney’s North Shore.

About 1.30am emergency services were called to the Mary Booth Reserve on Olympic Drive at Kirribilli, following reports a man had fallen between a rock face and a walking track.

Neighbours said they were woken up by the man’s friend screaming for help, with the ambulance arriving a short time later.

But we don’t really get that much of that around here, so I thought I’d come and check it out and it did seem pretty serious, but it’s good that the police got here quickly,” local Mike Nolan said.

The 34-year-old man was winched to safety and treated on the scene by paramedics.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition, with suspected head and internal injuries.

He is now in a serious condition.

Police are treating the incident as an accident in which alcohol may have played a role.
