Roads have been closed, with motorists urged to avoid the area around the Barangaroo worksite in Sydney’s CBD after a crane became jammed there.
A small crane on one of the site’s towers was moving a load when it became stuck, leaving it suspended high above the ground.
There were no reports of injuries but part of the site was evacuated and an exclusion zone set up.
Traffic was blocked around the Barangaroo worksite this morning, with parts of Hickson Road and Sussex Street closed in both directions.
A spokeswoman for LendLease said the crane had been secured.
“We continue to work with a team of crane experts on the process to safely lower the load and remove the crane from the roof of Barangaroo Tower One,” LendLease said in a statement.
“Safety remains our number one priority and the precautionary exclusion zone remains in place this morning with traffic management along the closed section of Hickson Road. We will advise next steps in due course.”
Bus routes were diverted and so far there have been no major delays.
