Hen’s party attack: men charged

Two men have been charged over an attack on a group of women who were celebrating a hen’s night in the Sydney CBD.

One woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken collar bone and three others suffered bruises and cuts after their group of six was attacked outside a George St fast food outlet at about 12.20am on Saturday.

A 69-year-old man was also assaulted and left with facial swelling after he tried to help the women, who were aged between 25 and 31.

A witness said, “One  (woman) was knocked out completely and the other girl, she [regained consciousness],” he said.

“The friend was in a bad condition. She was shaking and was hit about five or six times, and they were both knocked out.”

A 44-year-old man attended a city police station on Saturday afternoon and has been charged with five counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

A second man, aged 43, later attended Chatswood Police Station and has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and common assault.

Both men have been granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on April 6.
