Police on the state’s far north coast are investigating the discovery of a woman’s body at Tallow Beach, south of Byron Bay.

The body was found in sand dunes near a caravan park just before 11.30 this morning.

Police said early indications suggest the death is not suspicious.

A crime scene has been established and forensic specialists have been called.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to formally establish the cause of death.
