Man’s arm amputated after bench saw accident

A man was rushed to hospital on the state’s mid-north coast this morning after partially severing his arm while using a bench saw.

The 51-year-old was taken to Port Macquarie base hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A rescue helicopter spokesman says the damage to the man’s arm was so extensive, doctors were forced to amputate it.

He’ll soon be flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
