Coke guilt: Huegill convicted

Former Australian swimmer Geoff Huegill and his wife Sara Hill were convicted for cocaine possession and given a six-month good behaviour bond after pleading guilty in the Waverley Local Court today.

The couple were caught with the drug while at Sydney’s Randwick racecourse in the bathrooms of an exclusive suite last month.

The police were called to the suite at 5.40pm after a tip off to a security guard.

Fairfax reports one racegoer said up to 30 police officers swarmed into a number of private suites and stopped people coming out the bathrooms.

Huegill retired from swimming after the 2004 Athens Olympics before making a comeback to the pool, losing 40 kilograms to win two gold medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

He retired for the second time in 2012 after failing to make the team for the London Olympics.
