Body dumped in Newcastle park

Newcastle police are hoping witnesses will come forward as they investigate the suspected murder of a man found bound at Wickham Park.

Police say the man is 52-years-old but have not released his identity.

He was hogtied and wearing only a t-shirt and joggers.

A police strike force are investigating alongside the Homicide squad.

Newcastle crime manager Jeff Little says the public display of the body near a busy road could prompt people to contact them.

“The fact that it is in a location you’ve mentioned, it is a public area, it is in the open,” he said.

“It’s an oval and on that note we are hopeful that somebody may have seen something and with that information we urge them to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.”
