Nine injured in west Sydney car smash

A stolen car driven by a 13-year-old boy has smashed head on into a car on a road in Sydney’s southwest, injuring nine people.

Police said they tried to pull over the stolen Toyota Camry about 2.35am (AEDT) on Glenwari road at Sadleir, but the car didn’t stop and officers pursued it.

The pursuit ended when the stolen car crossed onto the wrong side of the road, police said in a statement.

The car then collided head on with a Honda Civic in Hoxton Park, with the 13-year-old driver fleeing the scene on foot.

Four people in each car were injured in the crash.

The driver was found about 3.15am (AEDT) after local police and the dog squad combed the area.

The boy was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment of a broken ankle and remains there under police guard.
