CIT says sorry for workplace bullying

The Canberra Institute of Technology has apologised to victims of workplace bullying.

The Commissioner for Public Administration investigated allegations of bullying and misconduct at CIT and recommended the institution apologise for past failures in the management of such complaints.

ACT Education Minister Joy Burch says the CIT acting chief executive has since issued a sincere apology to victims.

“CIT has also made significant changes to enhance its workplace culture,” she said

But ACT Opposition spokesman Steve Doszpot says there are still workplace issues that have not been resolved.

“I am not convinced that some of the victims have yet received the appropriate recognition of their trauma,” he said.

Mr Doszpot says several matters including some that involve allegations against current serving senior managers remain under investigation.
