Video: ad man’s poignant last work for Qantas

Qantas has debuted a new television ad which serves as a touching epitaph for late Australian ad man, Neil Lawrence.

The acclaimed ‘It Feels Like Home’ campaign was one of Lawrence’s last works before his sudden death of a suspected heart attack in July this year.

The campaign, which hit television screens on Sunday night, celebrates the reunion of the Australian Shelper family, welcoming their scattered loved ones home.

“Neil’s vision was to tell the story of homecoming in a very authentic way,” Tanya Jones, managing director of Lawrence Creative Strategy, told mUmBRELLA.

“He was committed to using real people, telling real stories and capturing real emotions felt when returning home and being united with loved ones.

“He was also very proud to be working with Qantas and showing the unique role Australia’s airline plays in people’s lives.”

Lawrence gained prominence in the advertising world for his work on the iconic Kevin07 campaign for former prime minister Kevin Rudd.

He passed away while on a surfing holiday with his son in the Maldives.
