Peaches dead aged 25

Bob Geldof has said his family is “beyond pain” with the shock death of his daughter with Paula Yates, Peaches Geldof, at the age of 25.

“Peaches has died. We are beyond pain,” Bob Geldof said in a heart-breaking statement.

The statement continued: “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken. Bob, Jeanne, Fifi, Pixie and Tiger Geldof.”

Kent Police said: “Police were called at 1.35pm on 7 April 2014 to an address near Wrotham following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman. A woman aged 25 was pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“At this stage, the death is being treated as an unexplained sudden death. Officers are working to establish the circumstances around the death.”

There were reports that police were called to her home in Wrotham, Kent, on Monday where her body was discovered.

Geldof, a mother of two with husband Tom Cohen, was a prolific tweeter and the final message that she sent on Sunday was a picture of her as a child with her mother. Yates died in 2000 aged 41 as a result of a heroin overdose.

In a recent interview with Mother & Baby magazine, in which Geldof was to start a column, she said becoming a mother had saved her.

“Becoming a mother was like becoming me, finally,” she told the magazine.

“After years of struggling to know myself, feeling lost at sea, rudderless and troubled, having babies through which to correct the multiple mistakes of my own traumatic childhood was beyond healing.

I felt finally anchored in place, with lives that literally depend on me, and I am not about to let them down, not for anyone or anything.”

Geldof had a prolific writing career, writing a socio-political column for the Daily Telegraph from age 14-17, as well as writing for The Guardian and a regular column for Elle Girl from 2004-05.

She also wrote and presented her own TV program Peaches Geldof: Teenage Mind 2005 followed up by Peaches Geldof: Teen America.

The model was also a fashion icon, rating number 7 on Tatlers fashion icons in 2006 and becoming the face of Australian fashion chain Dotti in 2007, the same year as she debuted on the catwalk.

Her friends and other celebrities including Lily Allen and Boy George took to social media to voice their grief over her shock death.
