A UK gossip magazine has reported cricketer Shane Warne and actress Liz Hurley have split.

Hello! magazine reports that the couple have “quietly decided” to separate following months of speculation over their relationship.

A source told the magazine that it was “very sad and they tried to make it work but there were just too many issues in the way”.

“Elizabeth is taking it one day at a time. She will always be extremely fond of Shane,” the insider said.

Warne posted this cryptic tweet last night, boosting the speculation that the relationship was over.

Shortly after Liz Hurley Instagramed her Christmas tree, with the caption: “Our Christmas tree this year. Huge thank you to@freddieleiba for the divine ornaments.”

Hello! reported the split was not work or distance related. It said the couple would spend Christmas apart – Hurley with her 11-year-old son Damian at Donnington Hall in Herefordshire and Warne with his three kids in Australia.

In September the couple had reportedly broken up before being happily reunited in Sydney in November for the launch of Hurley’s fashion line.

At the time Hurley had been seen without her engagement ring. They had also been tweeting mixed messages with Warne saying: “Yes, we’re sorting through some (private) issues. But we’re not throwing the towel in yet.”

A break-up could mean complications over the £6million estate in Herefordshire that they paid for in cash and moved into over the English summer.
