A 27-year-old Australian man has been found dead in a resort swimming pool in Bali.

Sydney man Vasco Rodrigues had been holidaying in Ubud in central Bali with his girlfriend Miroslava Kubeckova.

Ms Kubeckova, 35, told local police that her boyfriend had gone for a swim after breakfast while she returned to their room.

When she came back to the pool area about 90 minutes later, she found Mr Rodrigues lifeless at the bottom of the pool.

He was taken to a local health care clinic where he was later pronounced dead.

Police do not suspect any foul play.

Mr Rodrigues was a physiotherapist and studied at the University of NSW and University of Sydney.

He had also attended Casimir Catholic College in Marrickville.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesman said it was providing assistance to “the family of an Australian man who died in Bali”, Fairfax Media reported.
