Dutton has to go, say Greens
Greens leader Richard Di Natale says Peter Dutton is not fit for office.
Greens leader Richard Di Natale has called for Immigration Minister Peter Dutton’s sacking over his comments linking terrorism with Lebanese Muslim immigration under the Fraser government.
Speaking in Perth at the Greens’ 2016 National Conference on Saturday, Dr Di Natale said Mr Dutton was driving a wedge through the community with racist statements.
“Those shameful and calculated attacks on Australian-born Lebanese Muslims was a deliberate divide and conquer approach … this is feeding people’s fears and anxieties – it’s putting us at greater risk,” Senator Di Natale said.
It's become common for people like #Dutton to excuse #racism as "being honest".
Um. No. It's just racism. #auspol #qldpol— Queensland Greens (@QldGreens) November 24, 2016
“The prime minister likes to talk a big game when it comes to how wonderful multiculturalism Australia is, well now back it up and sack minister Dutton.”
Senator Di Natale also slammed rumours the government would introduce language tests for new immigrants, calling them racist and further proof Mr Dutton was unfit for office.
“This is a country that has been built on the back immigration – we should be proud of it,” he said.
