Nearly a week after the infamous census drama, the bungled Australia-wide survey has been turned into a hilarious Independence Day parody.

ABC’s Insiders transformed all the events and key statements in the census aftermath into an end-of-the-world ordeal.

It wraps up the entire saga as a sequence of dramatic developments — from the ABS’ website failure, the denial of service attacks and all the seesawing comments in between — fitting for an action-packed movie trailer.
