Bill Shorten has a humdinger of a zinger

Labor leader Bill Shorten’s one-liners usually fall flat, but on Monday night he delivered a humdinger of a zinger on The Project, leaving the show’s hosts lost for words.

Co-host Peter Helliar asked Mr Shorten if federal Treasurer Scott Morrison had gotten a little too personal when he recently accused the Labor leader of wearing ill-fitting suits.

Replied Mr Shorten: “No, I think the problem is that Australia has an ill-fitting Treasurer.” Boom tish!

Helliar was impressed, exclaiming with a grin as the studio audience and his co-hosts laughed along: “A live zinger!”

Co-host Waleed Aly was also taken aback. “You know what, we can’t top that Bill, we’ve got to let you go.”
