Billionaire James Packer and a senior Crown executive have been accused of engaging in a verbal and physical spat with a Crown Casino security guard.

Dr Iskandar Chaban, 60, told News Corp he was screamed at and pushed aside when he denied Mr Packer and senior Crown colleague Ishan Patnam entry into a section of the casino at lunchtime on New Year’s Day because he did not recognise them.

Dr Chaban, who says he was taken to hospital after the incident due to pain and shock, was eventually fired, something which Crown denies.

Crown has confirmed a “minor incident” took place on New Year’s Day following a misunderstanding by a security officer.

“A contract security officer, working inside the resort was radioed that one of Crown’s most important VIPs was approaching his position, but failed to recognise Mr Packer, moving in front of him to attempt to physically block him from entering the casino and causing a collision,” a spokeswoman told AAP in a statement.

“It’s understood that a verbal altercation ensued and Mr Packer continued into the facility.”

The spokeswoman said the security guard was suspended following the incident, but was reinstated after a review.
