Video evidence of Prime Minister Tony Abbott munching on another pungent raw onion has emerged, predating his now infamous nibble.

On Wednesday, the ABC published a short clip of the politician chewing “another member of the onion family” on a Queensland farm in 2011 to social media site Vine.

Back in March this year, Mr Abbott was filmed biting into a brown onion in Tasmania, leaving the nation bemused and aghast.

The video was reportedly discovered by an ABC employee as they trawled through old footage of the PM.

The New Daily understands Mr Abbott was sampling a spring onion, which, unlike brown onions, are often eaten raw in salads and some other uncooked dishes.

At time of publication, the video had been viewed more than 320,000 times.
